Vascular Surgery
I spent the first half of my life in upstate New York. Born and raised in Rochester, New York, I attended college at the University of Buffalo. I spent the next nine years in Syracuse, New York where I graduated with an M.D. degree from the Upstate College of Medicine in 1981. I then performed a five year general surgery residency at the Medical Center in Syracuse. From Syracuse I moved with my young family to Chicago, Illinois where I performed a two year fellowship in Vascular Surgery.
My first vascular surgical practice was in Wilmington, Delaware at the Medical Center of Delaware. I held an academic appointment from the Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine’s department of surgery and engaged in the training of surgical residents during my four years in Wilmington. I moved from Wilmington to Melbourne in 1992 joining another vascular surgeon in practice until I became part of the MIMA group in 1997.
My goal as a vascular specialist is to provide the best care possible for patients with vascular disease. This means being able to offer all therapies for vascular problems and choosing the therapy that is in the best interest of the patient.
Like most modern vascular surgeons, I have been trained in the complete care of patients with diseases of the vascular system. This means that I can treat patients with medical therapy, minimally invasive procedures as well as traditional surgical operations. Click here for more information about vascular surgery.
My vascular surgical practice has evolved to include both traditional surgical therapies as well as minimally invasive endovascular therapies such as balloon angioplasty, arterial stenting, atherectomy, and less invasive endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms. I perform carotid surgery with endarterectomy as well as minimally invasive carotid stenting. My approach to treating patients with varicose veins has moved almost entirely from the operating room setting to the office setting. I have a large experience with endovenous closure using small catheters to close varicaose veins as well as injecting varicose and spider veins, called sclerotherapy.
I am a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, Peripheral Vascular Society, Eastern Vascular Society, Florida Vascular Society and the American College of Phlebology. I am certified in Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.

I am on the staff of Holmes Regional Medical Center and serve as the Chief of Vascular Surgery on the Operating Room Committee.
When not working I am probably riding my road or mountain bikes. I enjoy traveling with my family and am an avid reader.
