Mark A. Fusco, M.D.

General Surgery, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Weight Loss Surgery

Dr. Fusco began serving Brevard in May of 1998. Prior to that, he was the Chief of Surgery at Scott Air Force Base Medical Center. Originally trained in Trauma & Critical Care, Dr. Fusco developed his interest in Minimally Invasive Surgery (Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery) while a member of the United States Air Force. Minimally Invasive Surgery is the technique of performing abdominal surgery using a scope inserted within the abdomen thereby eliminating the need for large incisions. An early adopter of minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Fusco was among the first military surgeons to perform a number of surgeries.

Dr. Fusco’s present practice is almost exclusively in Minimally Invasive abdominal surgery including the treatment of Colon Cancer, Diverticulitis, Rectal Prolapse, Acid Reflux, and Morbid Obesity. Dr. Fusco is also among the first surgeons in the area to be trained in the use of the DaVince surgical Robot. Dr. Fusco is the Medical Director of LifeShape Advanced Bariatrics Center of Florida which offers its patients the Lap-Band procedure for the treatment of Obesity. Dr. Fusco speaks extensively on a variety of Medical topics, is an active medical researcher, and is employed by two different companies teaching other surgeons in the techniques of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Fusco’s complete resume is available at www.markfuscomd.com/cv.htm.
