Dr. Victor Benezra is board certified by the American College of OB/GYN and is a Fellow of the American College of OB/GYN. He attended the University of Miami, graduating with a BS in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology. He received his medical degree from UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Jersey, in 2000. He completed his residency in OB/GYN at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital where upon completion in 2004, Dr. Benezra was honored by his professors and peers with the “Most Outstanding Teacher” award.

During his residency, Dr. Benezra learned the latest techniques using cutting-edge technology in performing laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. He has published numerous studies in peer review journals and has presented studies and case reports at annual conferences for both the American College of OB/GYN and the American College of Reproductive Medicine.

Dr. Benezra joined MIMA in 2004, and is currently Chairman of the OB/GYN Department at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, FL. His practice focuses on treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, contraception, HPV and abnormal pap smears, pelvic prolapse, and urinary incontinence.

In addition to his general OB/GYN practice, Dr. Benezra specializes in minimally invasive surgery, including both advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. His special interest is laparoscopic hysterectomies and endometrial ablations.

Dr. Benezra has been performing Endometrial/Uterine Ablations since 2000. He offers both the Gynecare Thermachoice Uterine Balloon Therapy and the Her Option Cryoablation procedures. He routinely performs these office-based procedures in an effort to control (or eliminate) menstrual periods in most women without surgery or hormones.

He performs the Essure permanent sterilization procedure. This is a non invasive office based sterilization method that requires no cutting and no scars for women who have completed their families and desire permanent sterilization.
