The American Diabetes Association and the National Committee for Quality Assurance recently recognized 34 MIMA physicians for providing quality care to patients with diabetes.

Physicians honored include Dr. Kyle Anderson, Dr. Richard Baney, Dr. Rajiv Bhambri, Dr.Robert Bisset, Dr. John Campbell, Dr. Lynn Chacko, Dr. Christian Cobbold, Dr. Allen Condo, Dr. Lydia Crane, Dr. Gary Dana, Dr. Jay Hagloch, Dr. Pauline Hyvonen, Dr. Eric Isenman, Dr. Peter Marzano, Dr. Jeffrey McDougall, Dr. Malinda Newcombe, Dr. Ashish Ojha, Dr Pamela Ojha, Dr Bhasker Patel, Dr. Ann Peterson, Dr. Ruben Pipek, Dr. Catherine Rossi, Dr. Mario Ruberte, Dr. Ruddy Ruiz, Dr. Jorge Salazar, Dr. Nelson Sang, Dr. Jose Santiago, Dr. Jane Spies, Dr. Craig Snow, Dr. Charles Stewart, Dr. Jozsef Szabo, Dr. Ronald Trout, Dr. Timothy Truitt and Dr. William Wahl.
An estimated 16 million American’s suffer from diabetes and The Diabetes Physician Recognition Program was designed to improve the quality of care that diabetic patients receive from their general practitioner.
“These physicians joined an elite group of medical professionals recognized for their commitment to treating the disease of diabetes,” said Al O’Connell, MIMA’s chief administrative officer. “We are proud of the tremendous dedication these physicians have shown to their patients and are honored to have them serve on the MIMA team.”
To achieve this recognition, physicians submitted data demonstrating performance that meets the program’s key diabetes care measures, including eye exams, blood pressure tests, nutrition therapy and patient satisfaction. Research has shown that people with diabetes that receive quality care as outlined by these measures are less likely to suffer complications such as heart attacks, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and amputations.
